Generally a combination of dynamic microphones & condenser microphones are used when recording a real drum set in the studio. Instead of buying each mic you need to record drums, you can buy a drum mic kit which will help you to save some money (it's usually cheaper to buy them as a set rather than to buy each mic individually.) It may also be a good idea to buy a drum mic kit so that you are sure you have every mic you need to record drums effectively.
